Wargaming invites a Senior Technical Artist to join its top AAA project - World of Tanks!

It's a two-times Guinness award-winning vehicle action game with a 110-million army of loyal fans. World of Tanks is a cultural phenomenon that has entertained players worldwide for around 13 years!

As a Senior Technical Artist, you will guide the creation and improvement of the art production pipeline. You will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between art and technology, ensuring the seamless integration of visual elements into our games.

Your technical expertise, artistic flair, and strong problem-solving abilities will contribute to the overall artistic vision of our projects.


The role is open in Prague office, we offer relocation package for candidates from other locations, or potentially ready to consider remote employment.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate closely with art, design, and programming teams to bridge the gap between artistic vision and technical implementation

  • Create and maintain tools and scripts to improve the efficiency of art production and enhance the capabilities of the art team

  • Provide technical support and guidance to artists, assisting them in overcoming technical challenges and achieving their artistic vision

  • Own the technical budget of all the assets received; provide solutions, ensuring they are valid for game play and optimized for performance

  • Profile and optimize memory and performance gains for in-game maps and content.

What are we looking for?

  • Good understanding of graphics pipelines and ability to analyze the impact of content on performance
  • Understanding of performance optimization techniques and related software, and how to turn findings into actionable changes and improvements to the art

  • Proficiency in one of the external graphic profilers/debuggers (RenderDoc, IntelGPA, NvidiaPerfHUD, Pix)

  • Experience with version control systems (TortoiseSVN, Git) and ability to teach the essentials to artists

  • Solid understanding of shaders, lighting, rendering techniques, and optimization

  • Collaboration and Communication skills, with a proactive attitude for bridging the communication between art and engineering

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find creative solutions to technical challenges in a fast-paced development environment

  • A passion for gaming, art, and technology, and a drive to stay updated with the latest developments in the industry.

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Programming skills. (i.e. Python & C#)

  • Expertise in 3D art software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) and proficiency in game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine)

  • Experience creating shaders using HLSL

  • Knowledge of procedural content generation tools like Houdini Engine

  • Experience creating tools for Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, etc.
